Only seven days of normal operation at the Urgent Care Centre in Chemainus in November

But number of full closure dates reduced by four from October

There will only be seven days of normal operation at the Urgent Care Centre in Chemainus during November.

Island Health has announced the schedule for the month and limited physician availability remains a factor. The days of regular operation are four less than October.

On the other hand, the full closure dates have been reduced from a high of 13 in October back to nine, the same as September.

Residents are advised to seek attention as necessary during the closure dates by driving to the Ladysmith Community Health Centre or Cowichan District Hospital. On those dates when the Urgent Care Centre in Chemainus is not open, Island Health will be allocating additional resources to Ladysmith and Cowichan to support staff and patients.

The Chemainus Urgent Care Centre full closure dates for the month are on Nov. 6, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 28.

Dates of normal operations from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. are Nov. 3, 8, 12, 14, 18, 26 and 27.

Operating hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. take place on Nov. 2, 4, 5, 9, 15, 19, 20, 21, 25 and 29.

The centre will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 1, 7, 24 and 30.

Laboratory and medical imaging services will continue as usual.

Island Health points out it is working to secure additional physician coverage for November that may result in adjustments to the Urgent Care hours of operation. Residents and visitors can call 250-737-2040 Ext. 42227 or go to the Island Health website to check for updates.
