North Cowichan is seeking people to assist with the upcoming public engagement on the future of its municipal forest reserve.

“I know the public has been very eager to provide input on the future of the municipal forest reserve, and I am extremely excited to see this first step in engagement kick-off,” said Mayor Al Siebring.

“I am impressed with the work that staff and the consultants are undertaking to ensure the working group will incorporate a variety of views and opinions, as this was a concern of mine early on.”

The municipality is recruiting members of the public to be part of the working group that will help guide public engagement and influence the future of the 5,000-acre MFR.

Applications will be available on North Cowichan’s website and PlaceSpeak until March 6.

To ensure a broad cross-section of representation within the group, municipal staff will be working collaboratively with the public engagement consultant, Lees and Associates, to determine membership of the 16-person group.
