Mike Wilson is running for re-election in the CVRD’s Electoral Area C (Cobble Hill)

Wilson, who has lived in Cobble Hill for 22 years, retired from his long-time consultancy business when he was first elected as the area director in 2018.

He began his working career with the British Merchant Service in 1964 and rose to chief cable engineer officer in the private sector.

Wilson said he’s running for a second term because there’s still much to be done.

He said during his tenure as director, he has fostered close working and personal relationships with local elected officials from senior government levels, government departments and local emergency personnel.

“My motivation for running for the seat has always been honesty, integrity, accountability and responsibility,” Wilson said.

“I am opposed to poor or cavalier use of the tax requisition and a ‘tax-and-spend’ attitude.”

Wilson said he is committed to continuing to be a strong Cobble Hill community presence at the CVRD table, and he will ensure that he provides solid leadership for the protection of the changing environment, the region’s treasured ecosystems and the purity of its water and air.

He said he is also committed to the highest degree of fiscal responsibility and common sense to all decisions regarding the expenditure of Cobble Hill tax dollars.

Wilson said that during the last four years, he has advocated strongly on a number of important issues; including changes to traffic light arrangements on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Cobble Hill and Mill Bay areas, improvements and stringent oversight of specific operations in the Fisher Road industrial area, and regular and stringent testing of all local aquifers.

“My vision for Cobble Hill is that it be a strong, vibrant place to live, work and play, ecologically and economically,” he said. “This work has been in progress for some time and we should ensure that it continues so that all our residents enjoy the many benefits of our wonderful locality.”
