Lights, camera, fashion at Lake Cowichan Secondary School

Graduates are busy getting organized for the upcoming Dry Grad fundraiser Fashion Show.

Graduates are busy getting organized for the upcoming Dry Grad fundraiser Fashion Show.

All the grads for Lake Cowichan Secondary School will be putting their best foot forward as they strut their fashion on the runway for parents and local residents.

This event is by donation and everyone is welcome. Donating to the grads for this event also gets your name entered into a draw for baskets to be raffled off at the end of the event.

Alexa Johnston and Amber Bell are the student organizers for the fashion show, as well as other upcoming fundraisers.

“We’re also doing bottle drives,  a car wash in the summer and anyone can give us a call with odd jobs and we’ll do them,” he said.

Donations raised will be allotted to a Dry Grad white water rafting trip, as well as prom costs.

Nikki Vandersluys, Meghan Foster and Jasmine Langset are three students from LCSS who also attend hairdressing school in Duncan and have volunteered their services to make the grads look fantastic for this exciting event.

Local sponsors for the event include Copper Lane and Link Hair Salon, along with Duncan sponsors Crave, Martin’s, Warehouse One, the Shoe Warehouse, Rockabilly’s, and Paper Dolls.

The Fashion show will be held in the gymnasium at LCSS on Friday, Feb. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. Come out, enjoy the show, and donate to our local Lake Cowichan grads.

Any local businesses that would like to donate items for baskets being raffled, or if you have any other questions should contact student organizer, Johnston. She’s available at LCSS at 749-3199, or at home at 749-4982.

The Dry Grad  committee, all the grads, and teacher sponsor Michele Taylor would like to thank the community for its ongoing support.
