Kristine Sandhu is running for re-election to the Town of Lake Cowichan’s council table.
Sandhu said she was born and raised in Lake Cowichan, married to her husband Jas for 33 years, and they have three grown children; Amanda, Jessica, Adam.
She said she has learned an incredible amount over the last four years she has served the community as a council member.
Sandhu said she’s a representative on the Cowichan Watershed board, co-chair of the Cowichan Watershed Society, a representative on Our Cowichan, a guest on the Cowichan Lake River Stewardship Society, a representative on the Movin’ Poverty Reduction working group, as well as the alternate director for the town at the CVRD board table.
“I believe in a balanced approach in our community’s growth,” she said.
“By developing and adopting a respectful dialogue, we can address and integrate environmental, social, and economic well-being in our community. Our community was built by volunteers, and I’m a strong advocate for our volunteers and service groups.”
Sandhu said council must continue to lobby the provincial and federal governments to fully fund services needed in the community.
“Continuing to apply for grants to complete Centennial Field is a priority,” she said.
“Staff has been directed by the current council to bring a full report on our aging infrastructure and the cost, and what are high priorities to replace. I’m always approachable to listen and understand our residents’ and businesses’ concerns and ideas.”
