CVRD Electoral Area F readies its OCP for public input

It’s not just the Town of Lake Cowichan that is producing a revised Official Community Plan this year.

It’s not just the Town of Lake Cowichan that is producing a revised Official Community Plan this year.

Brian Peters, the chair of the recently appointed CVRD Cowichan Lake South/Skutz Falls Electoral Area F Advisory Planning Commission, expects their OCP to go to the public consultation phase at some point later on this year.

“Part of what we’ll be looking at is incorporating green into the OCP,” Peters said, of environmentally-minded greenhouse gas emission reduction goals.

Although they typically don’t meet every month, instead meeting whenever zoning and other issues come up, Peters expects more regular meetings from now on, so as to ready the OCP for public consultation.

“They are not secret meetings,” he said. “They are open to the public.” The date of the next meeting has not yet been set.

In addition to Peters, other members include vice-chair Peter Devana, secretary Shirley Burden, David Lowther, Mary Lowther, Sharon Devana, Joan McKenzie, Joe Allan, and Phil Archbold.
