It’s time to have your say on the Cowichan Valley School District’s budget. The annual budget survey is out and school officials want the public to share their thoughts.

“The School District’s budget is the financial plan that allows us to deliver programs that give our learners exceptional learning opportunities, and keep our schools safe, healthy places to work for both schools and staff. We are optimistic that this year may be a return to more normal times,” said school board chair Candace Spilsbury. “We are asking for your feedback around our annual budget as a key aspect of determining where we put our resources.”

The district’s long-term strategic plan focuses on ‘Beyond Education’: with equity, relationships, environment, harmony, and inclusiveness being the top values and learning, indigenous ways of knowing, a culture of care and a future-focused system being the top priorities.

“In addition to asking for feedback in these areas, the Board is reporting back to the community on the advances made as a result of last year’s responses, including investments in COVID-19 related health and safety measures, capital projects, childcare, and literacy and numeracy initiatives,” said a news release.

The survey can be found on the Cowichan Valley School District’s Facebook, Twitter accounts as well as at www.sd79.bc.ca. Hard copies can also be printed for you at your school. Survey responses will be collected until Tuesday, April 17.
