The Cowichan Public Art Gallery is launching its first Summer Fine Arts Fair featuring local visual artists.

The fair will take place alongside the Duncan Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from July 16 to Aug. 27 at the heritage Green Door property owntown, which is now owned and operated by the CPAG.

The inaugural Fine Arts Fair offers artists opportunities for exhibition and connection within the local community.

Applications for local artists to take part in the fair are now open and artists are invited to apply by email.

The application guidelines are available on the CPAG website at www.cowichangallery.ca

Art gallery president Jock Hildebrand said the fair will be a great venue for local artists.

“The Duncan Farmers Market and the Cowichan Public Art Gallery will be offering summer programming on our Green Door gardens which will make this an especially interesting and vibrant event,” he said.

The Cowichan Public Art Gallery Society is committed to developing connections between art and the community.

Its exhibits are intended to provoke intellectual curiosity, capture visitors’ imaginations, and encourage discourse while bringing the community together.

Hildebrand said the Fine Arts Fair is the first in what the CPAG hopes is a series of activations and events that attract and engage a diverse range of local artists along with members of the general public and add to the cultural richness of the Cowichan Valley.
