COVID outbreak declared at Sunridge Place in Duncan

Outbreak confined to one floor of the facility

Island Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Sunridge Place’s long-term care home in Duncan.

According to a statement issued Feb. 7, 15 resident cases have been identified related to this outbreak. The outbreak declaration is limited to the facility’s second floor.

Owned and operated by Park Place Seniors Living, Sunridge Place was one of five long-term care facilities on Vancouver Island with outbreaks reported on Monday after being confirmed via PCR testing or follow-up from Island Health’s case and contact management team.

The others named were Nanaimo Seniors Village long-term care home (six resident cases and one staff case), Sluggett House long-term care home in Brentwood Bay (four resident cases and one staff case), Island View Place Care long-term care home in Saanichton (two resident cases), and Glacier View Lodge long-term care home in Courtenay (eight resident cases).

Island Health will support the sites to take any further actions required and answer questions from staff, patients and family members.
