Cowichan Tribes Chief William Seymour has taken a leave of office after surgery to remove a blot clot, according to a memo from Jodee Dick, acting general manager of Cowichan Tribes.

The memo was released around 11:15 a.m. Friday, May 7.

Seymour will return once fully recovered.

“Chief would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and support and is looking forward to being back shortly,” Dick wrote.

While he’s away, Councillor Cindy Daniels will be the Acting Chief.

Seymour has worked with Cowichan Tribes for more than 30 years and has been the chief since 2013.
