Veterans and current members of the Canadian Forces are being offered free service on all local transit routes and handyDART rides between Nov. 4 and Nov. 10.

All that’s required is a valid ID. The free service does not apply to the commuter buses running between Cowichan and Victoria, however.

The offer is in commemoration of Remembrance Day.

What’s more, local transit users can ride the bus for free on Remembrance Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, but be forewarned, not all the buses will be in operation. Given it’s a statutory holiday, the buses will be running on a Sunday schedule, and, according to BC Transit spokesperson Jonathon Dyck, the new 44 Victoria-Duncan route and all Ladysmith, Youbou and Honeymoon Bay local routes won’t be available.
