UPDATE: Daniel Scott has been found safe.

Those playing outdoors on the holiday Monday are urged to keep an eye out for Duncan’s Daniel Scott.

The 5-foot-6-inch, 130 lb man was last seen on July 27 after leaving his home.

He was reported missing July. 31.

Cowichan Search and Rescue have been called out to help with the search.

“Cowichan SAR is currently on task looking for Dan, a 53-year-old autistic male in the Carmel/Gibbins Road area of Duncan. He is familiar with the Cowichan Trail. Please search any out buildings on your property,” said a social media post from Cowichan Search and Rescue.

“We are really asking people to look on their properties all along the Cowichan Valley Trail system which backs onto the hospital and subdivisions,” confirmed Cowichan Search and Rescue’s Tina Phillips. “We have searchers out in the green spaces around those areas and going door to door.”

Scott is a Caucasian man with black hair and blue eyes and will be in dark clothing.

“We have reached out to Juan de Fuca, Salt Spring, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Peninsula Emergency Measures Office, and Metchosin for mustual aid,” said Phillips. “He has done a multi-day-away before but is likely to evade searchers. If anyone sees him not to approach but stay with him and phone 911.”

“Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact their local police.
