Alison Nicholson is ‘committed to community’ in bid for re-election to Area E

Mission is to work with you to build community where there is an opportunity for everyone to prosper

Alison Nicholson is running for re-election to her seat on the Cowichan Valley Regional District board, representing Area E (Sahtlam/Glenora/Cowichan Station).

Committed to Community

I believe that a community working together is the most powerful force there is for positive change. Helping transform Cowichan Station’s beloved former school into the HUB, I have seen what can be accomplished and overcome when people have a voice and involvement in building a liveable, sustainable community.

It has truly been an honour to represent Cowichan Station/Sahtlam/Glenora for the past four years. Together we have tackled complicated issues like noise, drought and road safety and we have made good progress modernizing our area’s land use policies and parks and trails plan. If elected I will continue to build on that experience to improve citizen involvement and empowerment in solving our region’s issues.

I am convinced a successful director must:

• use the skills and expertise of our community,

• listen and learn about all sides of issues,

• avoid complacency by asking uncomfortable questions,

• account for the real costs of services to stabilize taxes, and

• build meaningful relationships with First Nations.

As well as my community experience I offer a broad base of knowledge and professional work experience. I am an ecologist and management consultant, I understand government and have run a small business.

My mission is to work with you to build a community where there is an opportunity for everyone to prosper, that leads in sustainable development and environmental protection, and that is supported by a dynamic regional district government that works hard and works for everyone.

I hope you will join me.
