Crofton's stylish Careys win gold at Island Carpet Bowling Finals

Wendy and Bruce Carey along with carpet bowlers from across the island competed

Crofton's unstoppable carpet bowling couple, Bruce and Wendy Carey of the Crofton Seniors Centre, took home gold in pairs at the Vancouver Island Carpet Bowling Finals on April 16 in Honeymoon Bay.

Teams from north and south Vancouver Island travelled for this one-day round robin tournament, demonstrating a high level of skilled play and having a blast while doing it.

While the Careys bowl several times a week and continually work to improve their game, their snazzy new custom shirts may have helped them clinch the top title. The shirts were made especially for the pair by Crofton's own Crafty Chick. Wendy and Bruce accepted their trophy in style, then were spotted celebrating at the Brass Bell Pub in Crofton following the competition.

The Careys loves carpet bowling so much they want as many others as possible to share in the fun. They invite any local seniors 55 years and older to try out carpet bowling at the Crofton Seniors Centre on Monday mornings at 9 a.m. and Friday nights at 7 p.m.
