The Cowichan Valley Capitals secured their position in the 2025 BCHL playoffs this past weekend with a 4-1 victory over the Powell River Kings.

With a record of 27 wins and 17 losses through 47 games, Cowichan was the fifth team in the Coastal Conference to punch their ticket to the post-season.

They had to wait until Saturday night to do it however. The Capitals were shut out 5-0 by the Victoria Grizzlies at the Q Centre on Friday night but Cowichan rallied to give their nearly 1,300 home fans a show the following night.

Camden Bajzer scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season to start off the first and third periods. Jake Gutwirth added a first-period goal while Luca Primerano potted his 20th of the year in the third.

Dylan Krick stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced to earn the win between the pipes.

Up next for the Caps is a March 14 home game against the visiting Coquitlam Express, a team that beat them 4-3 on March 1 in Coquitlam.

On March 15, Cowichan travels up the Trans-Canada Highway to meet Nanaimo at Frank Crane Arena. Both games start at 7 p.m.
