Sunfest shines bright next week in Cowichan with stellar lineup

Keith Urban and Lee Brice are some of this year's shining stars to take the stage for four-day epic music festival

The near future is looking bright for country music fans who will be attending this year's Sunfest, which runs next week from Aug. 1 to 4, as there's a red hot line-up of talent sure to make groupies of the genre feel all warm inside.  

Country music aficionados will want to muster around the Lakenight Stage on Thursday, Aug. 1 for the long-running festival's annual kick-off party featuring the multi-award winning harmonic country trio The Washboard Union based out of Vancouver. Other talent joining the trio on Thursday include Taylor-Rae, Whiskey Business, The Zach Thompson Band, Moonshine Mollys, Mitch Zorn & Dawson Gray, Rob Fitzgerald, and Reuben Shepherd. 

On Friday, Aug. 2, county music connoisseurs can feel 'Urban' under a 'Blue Sky'  in the beautiful rural backdrop of Youbou's Laketown Ranch with multiple-award winning music sensation Keith Urban as he 'Lets it Roll' and turns up the heat and his 'Wildside' on the main stage as this year’s top bill. Also hitting the main stage alongside Urban on Friday will be Canadian Grammy nominee Steve Lee Olsen, who has been dubbed one of this generation’s most promising and exciting country singer-songwriters. Attendees will also want to saddle in to see other great acts such as Nice Horse, Dave Hartney, Born Reckless, up and coming country duo JaimesonRhy, From The Earth, and The Old Island Highway which will leave attendees saying TGIF. 

'Hey World'! The "Rumour' is true, tt will be a Satur-slay of great country music on Aug. 3 as Nashville mainstay and Grammy-nominated country music sensation Lee Brice sings his 'Soul' out on the main stage. Brice, who has multiple platinum-selling albums and a string of No. 1 singles, continues to redefine the genre with his heartfelt storytelling and powerhouse performances, said a press release. Other acts sharing the day with Brice include multi-CCMA nominee Josh Ross, Alli Walker, Nice Horse, Brian John Harwood, and The Heels. JamiesonRhy, From The Earth, and The Old Island Highway will be serving up a second helping of good times and great music just in case you missed out the day before.

"Hey Y'all' Sunday puts the Sun in Sunfest with ACMA winning singer-songwriter Cole Swindell as the shining star for the final day of the festival as he will surely leave 'All of It' out on the main stage. Swindell’s songwriting credits include singles for peers such as Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, and Craig Campbell. Also bringing some shine to the final day of the festival are sibling country music duo The Reklaws, Abby Anderson, Brian John Harwood, Harvey Hann and The Bandit Band, and Salome Cullen. From The Earth also comes back for another set.

Country music fans of all ages are sure to take a shine to this year's stellar line-up.
