Mill Bay Baptist Fellowship Church is hosting its first annual Friends of Hope Fundraising Banquet on Nov. 5.

The event is a Pakistani-themed night of fun to raise money for refugees hoping to settle in the Cowichan Valley.

It will be a night full of good food and fun and a chance to hear about how anyone can help.

Over the past five years, the church has helped 30 persecuted people in more troubled parts of the world to come to the Cowichan Valley.

Pastor Norm Sowden said they are all extremely well educated, hard working and now loyal Canadians.

The fundraiser will be held at the Duncan Christian Reformed Church, 930 Trunk Rd., from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
