There was more than one hunk of ‘Burnin’ Love’ onstage at Frances Kelsey Secondary as the school’s students presented the hilarious musical All Shook Up.
James Meyer as the roustabout Chad led a fine cast that included Cecilia Dennison as Natalie and Ed, Jamieson Wickham as Dennis, and Mackenzie Lee as Miss Sandra, Cassidy Marat as Sylvia Hart, Aidan Holt as Natalie’s dad, Jim, Veronica Meyer as Sylvia’s daughter, Lorraine, Cameron Trustham as Dean Hyde, Bennett Meyer as his mom, Mayor Matilda, and Michaelangelo Onassis as Sheriff Earl.
You’ve already spotted a few names you know among that list.
Yes, several of that group have already starred this winter in the Cowichan Musical Society’s How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, which means that not only are they very talented, they are also willing to put in the staggering number of hours needed to produce such quality performances. In addition, Marat, Meyer and Wickham also choreographed numbers for the show.
Somewhere along the line, James Meyer broke his arm, and is performing in a sling.
Directors Anna Roberts and Jordan Heath have pulled out all the stops to get the best out of this fine young cast.
This is, simply put, a blockbuster show. All dancing, all singing, all fun for the whole family.
There are more performances scheduled for this week, so check with the school to see if there are any tickets left. It was packed to the doors on opening night, so don’t wait.
