Lake Cowichan’s Summer Concert set for Sept. 3

Event to be held in Town Square

Have a rockin’ good time at the lake on Sept. 3 with Lake Cowichan’s Summer Concert.

There will be three acts at the concert, starting with the Hellcats.

This rockabilly band from Duncan plays lots of swing music and many covers from Johnny Cash, Jennings and country rock tunes.

They are sure to get you up dancing.

The band is composed of Erin Bartley from Wild Heart and the Strange Saints & Sinners Whitesnake Tribute; Rikki Baggett from Bone-Yard and Saints & Sinners Whitesnake Tribute; Bill Fancher from Jambo & the Senate; and Mike Branch, formerly from the Mike Branch Band and Wild Heart.

The Renovation Blues Band, known for foot stomping and hip swaying blues played with conviction, is also playing at the concert.

The band is comprised of Paul Gorosh on the drums, Sean Kilback on guitar and Howard Mallett on bass.

As well as being seasoned musicians, they harmonize on the vocals.

If you love their music, CDs will be available for purchase on site.

The man behind the scenes at the concert, as well as one of its entertainers, is Kent Ball of Lake Cowichan.

He is a singer-songwriter and seasoned musician/singer.

Ball is captivating and draws his audiences into the 1970s, 80s, and 90s with hits like ‘Turn the Page’, ‘Don’t stop Believing’, ‘Taking it to the Streets’, and ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’, says a press release for the event.

Ball has recorded some of his original songs in Nashville and will play some of them on Saturday.

This free event takes place in Lake Cowichan’s Town Square, next to the public library, just off the main street of South Shore Drive.

Music starts at 3 p.m. and continues on to 8 p.m. with the three bands playing.

Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the entertainment.

Vendors and food trucks as well as nearby businesses will offer all you need to keep your tummy , eyes and ears all happy.
