The Chemainus Classical Concerts series for 2022-23 opens with a renowned piano duo, who happen to be husband and wife.

Tao Lin and Catherine Lan bring their sensitive musicianship, brilliance of tone and intelligent approach to the music they perform to St. Michael’s Church on Mill Street in Chemainus on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. for Counterparts in Concert.

Both have too many accomplishments to list. Their ensemble playing is seamless.

“Our season opener promises to be an exciting concert of very high calibre,” noted Rykie Avenant, the artistic co-director for Chemainus Classical Concerts.

International concert pianists and recording artists Lan and Lin formed Duo Beaux Arts in 2008. Their performances are driven by Lan’s fluent technique and probing intellect and Lin’s keen musical intelligence and excellent facility.

The program contains some of the most beautiful music composed for a piano duet and will include Schubert’s Fantasy in F minor and Mendelssohn’s Andante and Allegro brillante for piano four hands, as well as solo pieces from both artists.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 by calling Eleanor Montour at 250-748-8383 for more information. Ticket prices at the door, if available, are $25 or, for under 18, $10.

Season tickets can also be purchased for $162 for nine concerts.

The annual general meeting of the St. Michael’s Presents…Society takes place immediately after the Oct. 2 concert.
