The Cowichan Lake area’s three schools celebrated Family Literacy Day in various ways, last week.

Having worked as a pastor for the past 30 years, Lake Cowichan Baptist Church pastor Dale Winters knows a good church when he sees one.

Palsson Elementary School Kindergarten students benefited from their third Parents as Literacy Supporters (PALS) session, Thursday, January 20.

After a week’s delay due to the January 12 snow storm, the Lake Cowichan Retreads hiking group made a trip to check out progress the Kinsol Trestle rehabilitation, and to hike up the river.

Although, as a Grade 12 student, Preston Schedel didn’t have to participate in Lake Cowichan Secondary School’s Thursday, January 13, History Fair, he wanted to, anyway.

During the 1950s, the Riverside Inn Dining Room, which advertised “Real Home-Cooked Meals,” served breakfast from 7:00 a.m., dinner from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., followed by supper after 5:00 p.m.

Things got a bit dramatic at Lake Cowichan Secondary School, Thursday, January 13.
