VIDEO: Dogs and their owners, both of all sizes, turn up in record numbers for Heritage Days Pet Parade

A lop-eared rabbit named Kirby steals hearts at what used to be the Pooch Parade

Saturday, May 18 was simply a great day to be outdoors at Lake Cowichan’s Saywell Park and lots of families took advantage of it to enjoy Heritage Days there.

The Pet Parade, which had been the Pooch Parade until a lop-eared rabbit named Kirby stole the show, was better attended than ever.

Friends and family members, phones and cameras all ready, stood on the sidelines as proud owners paraded their pets around the sandbox in the centre of the park.

Then, they came back to the pavement for judging and for the chance for pets to show off the tricks they’ve learned.

All the smiles in the crowd showed that this May long weekend event is here to stay.
