A taste of West African culture was provided to local students, with groups from all three local schools dropping in to see the music and dance of a different group of people.

The group of four visitors presented the music dance and oral traditions of the Mande speaking peoples of West Africa, with the group’s director and choreographer Rex Chequer, the sole Caucasian member, joking that he was from the “Whitie Tribe” – a joke teachers got, and that went over students’ heads.

The group of visitors entertained students with their traditional cultural activities, bringing with them many unique West African instruments.
