There was plenty of merriment at Crofton Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 1 for the Merry & Bright Bazaar. Smiles on the faces of kids and adults alike filled the school as attendees shopped, snacked and even had a visit from this month's most popular couple, Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Chemainus Secondary School grads had a bake sale table at the event and raised $477, which will go towards their 2025 prom and dry grad.
A parent of one of the grads had a fun idea and baked 88 cupcakes to sell. Just one of them had a candy hat hidden in the icing. Shaylin Cohen was the lucky attendee who discovered the hat and won a cash prize.
Grads will continue with their fundraising efforts, which include running a concession to sell snacks and drinks during public skate nights at Fuller Lake Arena on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 3:15 to 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20 from 6:45 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 29 from 3:15 to 5 p.m..
