Run for the Claus is back Sunday, Dec. 8 but at a new location: the Cowichan Sportsplex

Get the family together and enjoy this dress-up run

Run for the Claus is back on Sunday, Dec. 8 but there’s a change this year.

It’s all starting and finishing at the Cowichan Sportsplex, instead of Duncan City Square as in past years.

“We had to move the event to the track because of new regulations downtown,” Clements Centre organizers say.

This six-kilometre run or three-and-a-half-kilometre walk in Santa suits always draws a big crowd of participants as it raises money for Clements Centre Society.

A surprising variety of people take part in this event: kids, seniors, families with strollers, serious runners. You name it, you’ll find it in a Santa suit on the Duncan’s streets that morning.

On the big day, registrations open at 10 a.m. with a fun warm-up starting at 10:30 a.m.

The walk/run officially starts at 11 a.m.

The cost of $25 for adults includes your Santa Claus suit. Kids registration is $5, which includes an elf hat. Early registrations and payment can be done at the Clements Centre Society at 5856 Clements St., just off James Street near downtown. Pledge forms are available if you want them.

Don’t miss this fun, family-friendly event. The kids get a real kick out of seeing all the adults prancing around in Santa suits to warm up, and you will, too.
