Rotary Club of Duncan presented the award

Each year the Rotary Club of Duncan works with School District 79 as well as other schools in the area to recognize a deserving middle or secondary school student from each school each month. This student is chosen by the teachers, not only for academic achievement, but also for demonstrating other leadership qualities.

For October the club is pleased to recognize Seonghee Park, who is a Grade 12 student at Queen Margaret’s School. Here are a few things that Ander Monro, QMS Deputy Head of School, shared with the club as to why Park was chosen.

“She has already contributed significantly to QMS through leadership roles as a school ambassador, a riding captain, and as the deputy head of house (in boarding). Now, as head prefect, she is using the tools she has developed to transform the way the prefect team at QMS operates,” Monro said.

“Taking the responsibility in her stride, Park initiates meeting agendas, drives accountability within her team, and seeks out conversations before others might consider doing so. Her vision and communication skills combine in a way that keep her team working towards their common goal and that will inspire the future leaders of the school to show courage and kindness in the way they contribute.”

Last Wednesday Rotary Club of Duncan President Andrew Dowsett, along with the program coordinator, Kim Barnard, were please to present Park with a certificate along with a cheque for $200.
