Ladysmith’s Aggie Hall was echoing with music, songs and lots of laughter last Saturday during Ladysmith Family and Friends’ (LaFF) annual Winter Celebration.
The event is so popular it is necessary to have two seatings.
“Both seatings we almost totally sold out, and that’s great," said Jacquie Neligan, LaFF executive director. "Our volunteers put a lot of time and imagination into the event and it’s great to see the success.”
The event featured music and sing alongs, a story book corner, craft making and the members of the Ladysmith Rotary Club were on hand cooking pancakes for everyone.
“We figured we probably made over 700 pancakes," said Rotarian Marshall Butcher. "It’s fun and all the families enjoying all the events is the best!”
Remedy Coffee Roasters from Nanaimo were also present and giving family packs of ground coffee to parents.
“We are happy to be a part of the event and the work done by LaFF is very important for families,” said Mike Alviao from Remedy.
“The Winter Celebration is our biggest event, of the year and it’s our top fundraiser," said Neligan. "We had a few new donors this year and all donors and supporters are hugely appreciated. We could possibly be $20,000 short but our fundraising goes on until the end of December. Ladysmith and area have always supported LaFF and we feel that will continue.”
