Huge Youbou Christmas village display continues this weekend

xmas villages 2019

Organizers Donna and Dennis Jones are delighted that their display of Christmas villages, on at Cassy’s Coffee House in Youbou until Sunday, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. is drawing lots of interest.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Cowichan District Hospital, and Donna Jones said Sunday that so far this year, they’ve received $1,200 in donations, way more than all of their effort last year, which was cut short when the windstorm and subsequent power outages stopped everything short.

A drive to Youbou is worth the effort to see this year’s display: it’s bigger than last year and is set up on stands constructed especially for the purpose.

From tiny people to fully realized waterfront towns, tiny trains, a carousel, and little shops and houses galore: Valley folks of all ages will find something to enjoy.

The display is open Friday afternoon, and then again Saturday and Sunday during the day. Entry is free but donations to the hospital are gratefully received.
