The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 210’s 22nd annual Russell Smith Memorial Frostbite Derby is back again, scheduled for Saturday, March 4 this year.

This fishing derby is all about trout. No steelhead allowed. All local regulations apply.

There are cash prizes for the top trout, with $250 going to the biggest, $150 for the runner-up, and $100 for third place. Fourth place gets $75 and fifth place earns you $50, so why not get out and give it a go?

A hot meal and an entry in a $100 cash draw is included in the ticket price. The final weigh-in takes place at the Lake Cowichan Legion no later than 5:30 p.m. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Tickets are $20 each. Get them at Tipton’s Gas Bar, Gord’s Fly Box or the Legion. For more information, call 250-749-6041. Note: Minors will not be permitted in the hall following the derby.
