Providence Farm is getting ready to celebrate spring with an event on May 11.

Nature’s Bounty: A Spring Faire of Plant Sales, Workshops & Vendors is scheduled to take place that day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the farm at 1843 Tzouhalem Rd., just outside Duncan.

Event aims to talk racism

On May 14 there will be a talk and then discussion in Duncan examining “Why it’s so hard for white people to talk about racism”.

Presenter and moderator Heather Ferris, a local clinical counsellor and longtime anti-racism activist, will host the session at the Duncan United Church Heritage Hall from 7-8:30 p.m.

The event is described as a unique opportunity to building a socially just community in Cowichan. “Racial equity is possible, but it takes a willingness to transform our colonial conditioning and notice and disrupt the systems that keep racism alive,” says a press release about the event.

Everyone is welcome, by donation, to cover the costs. A follow-up practice group will be organized if there is interest. The first one is on May 21 at 7 p.m. at Burns Hall at the United Church.
