The Every Child Matters march on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, Sept. 30, is back in Duncan for 2022.

The march starts at 9 a.m. at the Si’em Lelum soccer fields on River Road and also ends there, after doing a loop of approximately two kilometres.

“Please wear your orange shirt, bring your drums and sing with us as we walk in memory of the children that did not make it home,” says a press release for the event.

Organizers are also collecting new or gently used shoes to donate them to local schools for children in need. Contact the Downtown Duncan BIA at 250-715-1700 to drop off your donation.

The Cowichan District Hospital Auxiliary members have resumed tea and visiting services at Cairnsmore Place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but need more volunteers to provide full service on those days.

If this sort of gentle socializing appeals to you, and you have two hours per week to contribute between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., please contact membership director Linda for more information at lmzabok@shaw.ca

The HATS thrift store is also understaffed, and there are many different assignments to choose from there. Contact Susan (store director) 250-597-1428 during store hours (10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday) if you are interested.
