Shoppers in Chemainus can hunt for bargains and hidden treasures this spring during two “Boot Sale” events hosted by the Chemainus + District Chamber of Commerce.
The events will take place on Saturday, April 12 and Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Waterwheel Park parking lot. The concept is inspired by a popular British tradition of selling goods from the trunks — called 'boots' in the UK — of vehicles, similar to a garage sale with a twist.
Shoppers can expect an eclectic mix of second-hand items including clothing, books, home goods and collectibles, all offered by local vendors from the backs of their cars.
“Whether you’re looking for pre-loved clothing, books, home goods or collectibles, there will be something for everyone,” the chamber said in a release. “This is a great opportunity to find hidden treasures all in one place.”
Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. Organizers say the events are not only a way to score deals, but also a chance to support local residents and that “the event promises to be a lively and engaging experience for all.”
