On May 22 the Cowichan Valley Bahá’í community hosted more than 200 people at a conference whose objective was to invite residents to explore together how to build a unified, vibrant, all-inclusive community.
It was one of more than 10,000 world conferences, with attendees representing all the diverse members of the community including members of Cowichan Tribes on whose traditional territory the conference was held.
Among the themes consulted, according to a press release, were the vision of hope and universal participation where all have a part to play as in a great symphonic orchestra or the cells of the human body, how we can transform ourselves and our community and how to overcome the real and perceived differences that are obstacles challenging us in the process of achieving unity.
The conference is being followed up with many of the participants continuing this dialogue and work together in various programs of community service, including study circles, youth and junior youth programs focused on community service and children’s classes.
