Taxpayers beware of CVRD directors

Like most seniors on fixed income in the Cowichan Valley I am very concerned about wasteful spending by governments. The CVRD has one of the worst records for taxing, spending and waste with increases every year and annual raises for their already well paid employees. The CVRD also can’t resist getting involved in issues that are the responsibility of other governments and make us pay for it.

This bad behaviour is perpetrated on taxpayers by the elected CVRD directors who have increased taxes by four times the rate of growth in the past decade.

At the recent all-candidates meeting in Cobble Hill I asked the three CVRD directors — Iannidinardo, Morrison and Furstenau — who are hoping to become our MLA, if they were going to carry on with their taxing and spending as a provincial politician.

Rather than answer my question all mumbled some nonsense that the CVRD taxes weren’t that bad and avoided any accountability. Clearly, if elected as an MLA, these three are ready raise provincial taxes and spending — taxpayers beware!
