Skateboarders longtime part of downtown life

Moving to the downtown core of any city, you must be prepared for some noise pollution. It is part of the trade off for a great walkability score, a reduced carbon footprint, and some handy urban living.

However, not unlike moving near an airport, a racetrack, or a busy thoroughfare, you cannot complain when the element(s) that existed there before you, annoy you.

Skateboarding became very popular in this town in the early 1980s. It has spawned some economic benefits as well over the years. Creating downtown jobs with stores like Natural Progression and Area 51. Both owned by longtime Valley residents who in fact, lived or live downtown.

I moved back to the Valley from New Westminster five years ago after living right on Columbia Street. It was loud. I chose it. Then chose not to.

You’ve chosen to live in downtown Duncan, you’ll have to adjust to the native wildlife that has been here for over 30 years.
