Rainbow crosswalks represent progress

Re: Rainbow Crosswalk

I loved the picture of the rainbow crosswalk, and I particularly enjoyed Mitch Russell’s humour about it. (Basic joke- rainbows were invested by god and queers stole them from him! LOL). It reminded me of the kind of silly gay jokes we used to make back in the seventies, when a lot of the world was homophobic. I’m so thankful that Canada has evolved so far past that era. Recently the Canadian Parliament included Trans rights in the Bill of Rights. Yay! Thank you folks for all your years of support, and for the gorgeous rainbow crosswalk. It represents a hard yet loving journey!

But before we get too relaxed about Canada’s respect for diversity, please be aware that in many countries, gay people are being regularly executed for their identity. Most recently in Chechnya and Iran. There are international groups fighting to protect our brothers and sisters in these countries. Look online to find such groups and support them.

Thank you again for the rainbow crosswalks, and for listening to my appeal.
