Pathway project wasteful

Dear mayor and council:

Work has begun on the most wasteful project I have ever seen being done by any organization. Both private and public.

The new pathway in front of our condo, The Riverstone and The Farm, does not seem to have any logical or legitimate purpose.

I had heard it was for safety to move the sidewalk walking area away from the highway. So! What about on the west side across the street, are you going to do the same over there? I said it before and I’ll say it again, your expenditure, no matter what level of government the funds came from, is a waste of taxpayers’ money. Rumor has it that this part of the project is only going to the entrance to the Ramada. Ultimately expected to go as far as the Somenos Marsh. None of which makes any sense.

I have previously attempted to get your attention but that was a failure. Minimal contact from the mayor and Councillor Bruce.

Respectfully I am requesting a meeting with all of you to discuss this and other matters pertaining to good governance.

As a matter of reality there is a great need for road and sidewalk repairs.

Also you are going to have problems with infrastructure needs for all the new apartment and condo complexes being built in Duncan.

The only good thing I can see regarding all the new residential buildings is they are near to the railway station, within walking distance.

How about loudly supporting the restoration of the E&N railway and show that there is need and you are doing something to bring economic and social benefits to Duncan?

It saddens me when you insist I only appear at a public meeting. Why not meet with me, as a group privately, and let’s discuss this spending situation. Maybe you’ll convince me you’re doing what’s needed. At the moment it appears you’re not.
