Consider allowing 16-year-olds to vote for school trustees
In Manitoba there is a push by some to lower the voting age for school board trustees to 16. Of course there is a lot of opposition.
Just think a bit, it’s their education and it’s run by a bunch of old duffers as they see it. The old duffers think that young people haven’t the experience; but experience does not give anyone a view of the future, and the past has been filled with many potholes.
Many years of educational indoctrination does not stimulate the mind to creative forward thinking. Teachers will fear it, for now financial increments go by the years of teaching and has little to do with how good a teacher is. If students put in some student trustees (what a shake there could be). But the future of mankind might go on longer and better.
It would require separated voting from municipal runoffs, but it is too important to be clouded by the former.
