Stewart was born on January 1, 1951 in Duncan B.C. He died on October 28, 2011 at home. Stewart was predeceased by his parents Jack and Alvah Coates. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his brothers Bert (Noella), Bob (Linda) and Don (Lorraine), seven nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews.
His dogs were his family. He lived all his life in Mesachie Lake and Lake Cowichan and worked mostly in the logging and tire industries. He was past president of the Lake Cowichan Chamber of Commerce. He also went to Japan with the student exchange to the sister city of Ohtaki. He will also be sadly missed by his many friends. His family would like to especially thank those at the A&W and his neighbours for watching over him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
