Born December 24, 1936 in Vancouver, BC, Mac passed away on July 7, 2016 in Duncan, BC at the age of 79. Beloved husband to Ruth of almost 55 years, and father to Avis, Roland (Kristy), Laural, and Carla (Dean). He was known as ‘Grumps’ to grandchildren Jack, Hannah and Bentley. Mac began his marine career at the age of 15 working for Island Tug and Barge Ltd. He joined the BC Coast Pilots Ltd. in 1972 where he had a long and successful career before retiring in 1999. Upon retirement, Mac and Ruth moved permanently to their cabin at Cowichan Lake. Here Mac enjoyed his retirement, often by cruising the lake in his tug boat. Also a lifelong model train collector and enthusiast, Mac will be sorely missed by his fellow model railroader club companions.

Please join us in celebrating Mac’s life on August 27, 2016 from 1-4pm at the Ramada Hotel Duncan, 140 Trans Canada Hwy, Duncan, BC (formerly Travelodge Silver Inn).

We greatly appreciate and thank those who have sent cards and called with kind words and offerings of assistance. In memory of Mac, donations may be given to the BC SPCA Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre at www.spca.bc.ca/branches/wild-arc/
