Sept. 16, 1942 – May 17, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Hieta. Predeceased by his parents John (Jack) and Winifred. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Joan and three sons John (Jodi), Bill (Jen), Rodney (Kirsten) and sister Ann Balogh. He also leaves behind his greatest treasure of seven grandchildren: granddaughter Amanda and six of the best fishermen there will ever be: Tanner, John Daniel, Colton, Tyler, Hunter and Kyle along with countless family and friends. Whether you referred to him as Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Johnny or Big Guy he touched everybody’s life in a way that will always be remembered and cherished. His hunting and fishing trips were his favourite pastime and that love and knowledge will be enjoyed for generations to come. You will be with us in our hearts forever.

The family would like to thank the nurses on 3-south of Cowichan District Hospital, Dr. Froese, Dr. Duta, Dr. Barton, Dr. Swiggum and Linda and the rest of the transplant team for their wonderful care and compassion. A very special thank you to Dave and Brenda who are exceptional in so many ways.

No service by request. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis trust fund at Island Savings Credit Union in Lake Cowichan, BC.
