Jim was born July 21, 1956 in Toronto, Ontario and passed away in Victoria on Friday, January 28, 2011. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents Phillip and Mildred Fitzmaurice. Jim graduated from Saunders Secondary School in 1975 and entered the Canadian Military on January 5, 1982. He left the forces in 1996 as a Master Seaman after receiving the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1994,for loyal service. He was a member of the Canadian Legion and a member of the NWT (Naval Weapon Tech) Association.

Jim moved to Honeymoon Bay and became a member of the Honeymoon Bay Volunteer Fire Department where he was voted Firefighter of the Year in 2002. Jim had a special love for Border Collies. He could always be seen at the park with Bugsy and Imp, (hence Jimmy Two Dogs). He added Zephyr to his family when Bugsy passed. The latest member of his family was Casey the cat.

Jim was a very independent and a fiercely loyal friend. He loved to entertain playing the guitar and liked to add his special cheeky lyrics. Jimmy was a ‘well read’ individual, when he wanted to be, and wasn’t one to back down in a lively discussion. He would always go out of his way to help out a friend and was always there if you needed someone to care for your animals. Jimmy will be missed.
