VAN TANKEREN

HERMANUS AUGUSTINUS (HANK)

Our loving husband, father & grandfather was suddenly taken from us on Nov 10th, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 yrs, Suellen Alice Van Tankeren (Hamilton). He also leaves behind loving daughters Amity, Amanda, Trisha; grandchildren Natalia & Levi; his mother Henrica; sisters Johanna & Yvonne; brother Peter & family; as well as his in-laws Cecil and Karin Hamilton, & Suellen’s mother Shirley Hamilton. Hank was predeceased by his father Hermanus, & brother Frank.

Hank was born in Einhoven Holland, Oct 6th, 1948 and came to Canada in 1952 with his family, settling in Prince Rupert where he went to school. There he met the love of his life Suellen.

Hank had a lifelong love of music & as a drummer played in many bands over the years all over the country. He loved nothing more than a good jam session with others including his children.

For many years Hank was a fisherman; it was a vocation that he truly loved.

In 1992 Hank moved to Lake Cowichan where he became a valued member of the community and established his drywall business. Many homes in the area bear his signature ceilings and wonderful work.

Hank, your gentle soul and smiling eyes cause ours to cry. We miss you more than you could know.

Hank's celebration of life will be held Sat, Nov 22nd at 2:00 pm in the lower level of the Lake Cowichan Centennial Hall, 309 South Shore Rd.
