Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Royal Jubilee Hospital on April 7, 2012. She was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on July 12, 1951. Predeceased by her sister Brenda and parents Gunder and Melba; she is survived and will be greatly missed by her sons Jesse (Emily), and Matthew; her brothers Jack (Rolli) and Byron; her sister Diana; her nephew Jack (Michelle) and her beloved grandchildren Basil, Oscar and Odessa.
Darlene grew up, and raised her children, in Lake Cowichan, BC. She spent her later years at Mt. Doug Court in Victoria. Through good and bad times she maintained a generosity of spirit and an inexhaustible capacity for love. Throughout her life, she was an endless source of song, humor, and warmth, and in this way she touched and inspired many.
The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Jubilee for their kindness and care through her final months, as well as the many that have reached out with their condolences since her passing. A remembrance will be held at a later date.
