In Loving Memory ~

We sadly announce that Bertha Abma, a.k.a. Oma, passed unexpectedly on Feb. 24-2024 at 90 years of age.

Oma was predeceased by her husband John Abma, daughter Anita Abma and grandsons Danial Lazinchuk and Brodie Abma.

Oma was a vibrant, energetic and caring person, regularly singing in the United Church Choir, participating in Healing Pathways, attending many support groups, helping others and volunteering in her community of Cedar/North Oyster.

Oma enjoyed so many of life's simple pleasures such as gardening, reading, and crafting. Many of her beautiful creations were donated to hospitals, nurseries, and local community needs. She will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have met her.

Dearly loved, Oma will be mourned by her children Ken Abma, Mike Abma (Dayle) and Monica Abma Sellin (Bruce) as well as her siblings Claire Krol and Peter Colyn. She will be missed by her grandchildren Levi Abma; Ed, Kyle, and Sara Turner; Chase Abma; and Jon and Ben Lazinchuk; along with 14 great grandchildren and many other extended family members.

A celebration of life will be held March 15 at the Cedar Community Hall (2388 Cedar Rd, Nanaimo, BC). Service at 11:00 with tea and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Ladysmith 1st United Church Renovation Fund, North Oyster Community Club or a charity of your choice.
