City of Duncan water system users do not be alarmed if your water tastes or looks a little off for a brief time.

The city is doing its annual water main flushing between now and May 19 and as a result, the water might taste a bit like chlorine and it might be slightly discoloured.

It won’t last long.

Both issues can be resolved “by simply running a cold-water tap for a short period of time,” according to city officials.

The aim is to do most of the work during the early morning hours so as not to inconvenience residents.

Water main flushing helps to maintain water quality as a burst of high pressure water scours the inside of the pipes and pushes out any sediment that builds up over time.
