The turnout for the annual Day of Mourning ceremony at Lake Cowichan’s Forestworkers Memorial Park was down a little from previous years on Friday, April 28 but that could be because they scheduled the event for an hour earlier this year, starting it at 9 a.m.
A small crowd gathered to remember workers who had been killed on the job, and to hear addresses from Worksafe BC and other safety advocates.
Following the event, the Kaatza Station Museum opened its display of old logging photos, taken by Youbou photographer Wilmer Gold, and donated to the museum by the IWA.
