A Ladysmith woman is desperately searching for one of her dogs, who went missing in Duncan early this month.

Reggie is one half of a brother-sister pair owned by Brittny Bukva. Bukva and her boyfriend took the dogs on a walk to McAdam Park after dinner on Jan. 3, and let them off leash.

“They’re so full of energy, they need to run free,” Bukva explained. “I usually don’t have to worry about them wandering off too far because they always come back. This was our first time at this park, as the dogs and I are from Ladysmith but my boyfriend lives in Duncan. Reggie loves to chase bunnies, birds et cetera, but always barks with excitement trying to catch them. But this time there wasn’t even a peep out of him; he just disappeared and never came back.”

Bukva has put up posters in Duncan and Ladysmith, as well as FLED (Find Lost & Escaped Dogs), ROAM (Reuniting Owners with Animals Missing), Facebook, and other websites, to no avail.

“Not one person has seen him,” Bukva said. “I find it hard to believe there has not been a for-sure sighting of him.”

Bukva’s dogs, Reggie and Abby, are 12 years old, and she’s had them virtually all their lives — her mother owned both parents, although the father has since died. The dogs are mixes of Jack Russell, pug and Pomeranian. Reggie, Bukva said, will play ball for hours.

“They mean more to me then anything in this world,” she stated.

She describes Reggie as brindle, with a white chest and white face. He is neutered and has a tattoo in his ear.

“I miss him so so much it’s killing me not knowing where he is, or if he’s OK,” Buvka said. “You can imagine how his sister feels: separation anxiety and so sad — they are a pair. I’m desperately trying to find him. I know he’s missing us and would want to get home. He’s very spoiled and loved so much, he needs to come home to his family. I need all the extra eyes to please help keep a lookout for my little dude.”

Buvka is offering a reward for whoever returns Reggie. Anyone with information should call her at 250-616-4089 or email bukva.b73@gmail.com
