No animals were hurt, but a break-and-enter at the Cowichan District SPCA office is still hurting the organization’s efforts.

The SPCA office on Bell McKinnon Road was broken into sometime after 10 p.m. on the night of Wednesday, May 3. A quantity of cash and donations were stolen, and damage was done to some property.

“Luckily, no animals were harmed during this incident,” said Const. Jeannine Beattie of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP. “But the impact on the community is significant because it is hurting non-profit organizations.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers can also be reached at cowichancrimestoppers.com or by texting 274637 and including the word COWICHAN with your tip.
