The fence has been repaired, new security systems installed and the RCMP have been alerted after a string of thefts at the Cowichan Biofuel facility inside the Cowichan Valley Regional District’s Bings Creek Solid Waste Management Complex on Drinkwater Road.

What’s more, according to Brian Roberts, president of the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op, video footage of at least one culprit has been captured.

“People keep cutting the fence,” Roberts reported. “Unfortunately it’s out in the middle of nowhere. They break in and help themselves to stupid things like copper wires and batteries. These thefts are costing our small non-profit a fortune.”

“We have added new security systems,” Roberts said. “We want to know if somebody knows anything about it.”

Those with information related to this or any other crimes are encouraged to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
